President James Eating summoned Mueller to appear on Tuesday, September 2, as part of the extension of the Committee on the archives of Jeffrey Epstein.

Mueller served as director of the Federal Research Office from 2001 to 2013.

“Because you were director of the FBI during the time when Mr. Epstein was investigated by the FBI, the Committee believes that you have relevant knowledge and information for your investigation,” he wrote eating in a letter sent to Mueller on August 5.

Mueller’s family told New York Times that he has been fighting Parkinson’s disease, prohibiting him from arriving before Congress.

“Bob was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the summer of 2021,” the family said in a statement to The New York Times. “He withdrew from the practice of the law at the end of that year. He taught in his Alma Mater of the Law School during the fall of 2021 and 2022, and retired at the end of 2022. His family asks that his privacy be respected.”
