A Portuguese container ship has collided with an oil tanker with an American flag while the oil tanker was anchored in the North Sea, on the eastern coast of England, with both ships they caught fire, according to the officials.

“HM Coastguard is currently coordinating the emergency response to the reports of a collision between a tank truck and a cargo ship off the coast of East Yorkshire, resulting in fires aboard both ships,” said the United Kingdom Coast Guard in a statement.

The US ship. It identified itself as the Stena Immaculate, while the container ship with Portuguese flag was identified as the Solong. Both ships were abandoned by their crews.

All members of the Stena Immaculate crew have been rescued, a Sharment Sawner Bulk Swedish property spokeswoman, ABC News, told ABC News.

It is not clear if all members of the Solong crew have yet been counted.

Thirty -two people were injured in the incident and transported to a nearby hospital, according to the CEO of Port of Grimsby East, Martyn Boyers.

The incident occurred at approximately 10 in the morning of UTC, while Stena Immaculate Petroleum managed by Crowley was anchored about 10 miles from the North Sea coast, near Hull, England, according to Crowley.

A cargo tank containing Jet-A1 fuel broke and multiple explosions were produced on board the oil company, said Crowley.

Crowley is “actively working with public agencies to contain the fire and ensure the ship,” the company said in a statement.

“Our first priority is the safety of people and the environment,” he added.

The marine accident research branch said that a team has deployed in Grimsby, adding: “Our team of inspectors and support personnel is gathering tests and performing a preliminary evaluation of the accident to determine our next steps.”

A Coast Guard helicopter has been sent, as well as a fixed -wing plane, several lifeboats and vessels with fire extinguishing capabilities, said the Coast Guard.

“The incident is still ongoing and an evaluation of the probable pollution pollution response is promulgated,” the coast guard said in a statement.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, Boyers said.

He pointed out that there was probably fog in the area at the time of the incident.
