The cast and the “Anora” filmmakers took the Oscar stage after winning the coveted award for the best film.
Alex Coco, Samantha Quan and Sean Baker accepted the prize on behalf of the film.

Coco encouraged independent filmmakers in their acceptance speech, saying: “We made this film independently. If you are trying to make independent films, continue doing it. We need more. This is a test.”
Quan, in his acceptance speech, said: “We did this with very little money, but all our hearts. To all the dreamers and the young filmmakers out there, they tell the stories you want to tell. Tell yourself the stories that move you. I promise you, you will never regret it.”
Baker ended the night saying: “This film was made about blood, sweat and tears of incredible independent artists, and a long -lived independent film.”
