Former vice president Kamala Harris says that the Democrats made an error and that it was “reckless” to allow President Joe Biden to make the decision only on the functioning of re -election, saying that the election should not have “left in the ego of an individual.”
In an excerpt from his next book, “107 Days”, published in El Atlántico on Wednesday morning, Harris, in a remarkable change, said “as loyal as I am President Biden, I am more loyal to my country”, and regretted his time in the administration of Biden, saying “to obtain something positive about my work or any defense against false attacks was almost impossible.” “
Harris said that President’s staff fed negative stories about his performance as vice president has often refused to defend her against attacks against Republicans, including the narration that she had a “chaotic” office and an unusually high turnover of the staff during their first year.
“I was the first vice president in having a dedicated press pool that traced each of my public movements,” Harris said. “Before me, the vice presidents had what is called a ‘supplementary pool,” as the first lady does, which covers important events. Due to this constant attention, the things that had never been especially of journalistic interest on the vice president were suddenly reported and scrutinized. “
At another time of the extract, Harris defended Biden, dismissing those who say he was unable to serve as president.
ABC News has communicated with the Biden camp to comment.
In May, Biden, in an extensive interview in ABC “The View”, said he was not surprised by the loss of Harris in the presidential elections of 2024, but not for his qualifications as a candidate, on the other hand, pointing out what he said he was sexism and level -level racism against her.
“I was not surprised, not because I did not think that the vice president was the most qualified person to be president … I was not surprised because they followed the route of the sexist route, the entire route,” Biden said.
But Biden, separately in the same interview, said he still believes that he would have defeated Trump if he had stayed in the race.
“Yes, he still got seven million less votes,” Biden said about Trump, pointing out how much he beat Trump in the 2020 Popular Electoral Voting.

When asked to respond to the statements that he should have abandoned the race and support Harris before, Biden said in the interview that Harris still had a long period to campaign and that they worked together “in every decision I made.”
Biden also denied having reported that he said he had advised Harris to suggest that there was no day light between the two, saying they were partners and worked together.
Harris, however, now sees this slightly different.
“When the stories were unfair or inaccurate, the president’s internal circle seemed to be fine,” Harris said in the extract of his book. “In fact, they seemed that they decided to be shot down a little more.”
“Her thinking was zero sum: if she is shining, he mitigates,” Harris said. “None of them understood that if he did well, he did well. That is the concerns about his age, my visible success as his vice president was vital. It would serve as a testimony of his judgment when choosing me and the assurance that if something happened, the country was in good hands. My success was important for him.”
“His team did not understand it,” said Harris.
