Israel’s action in the Gaza Strip is equivalent to a genocide, said a United Nations commission in a report published Tuesday, a finding that an Israeli ministry rejected as “false.”
The International Independent Investigation Commission, which operates under the UN Human Rights Council, also wrote in a 72 -page report that found that some “statements made by Israeli authorities are direct evidence of genocidal intention.”
“In addition, on the basis of circumstantial evidence, the Commission considers that the genocidal intention was the only reasonable inference that could be drawn based on the behavior pattern of the Israeli authorities,” the report said.

He added: “Therefore, the commission concludes that Israeli authorities and Israeli security forces have the genocidal intention of destroying, in full or part, the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.”
The Israeli Foreign Ministry in a statement sought to reject the claims, saying that the authors of the report were equivalent to “Hamas representatives.”
“The report is based completely on the falsehoods of Hamas, washed and repeated by others,” the ministry said in a publication on social networks on Tuesday.
The report was investigated and written by the International Independent Commission of Research on the Palestinian Territory, which was formed by the Human Law Council in 2021, as an independent investigation agency.
The conclusions of the Commission are independent of the procedures in the International Court of Justice, which would be responsible for “a final determination in the future on Israel’s responsibility under the genocide convention,” the report said.
