A 9 -year -old boy died after an incident on the promenade inside HersheyPark in Pennsylvania, confirmed the CEO of HersheyPark.

The incident occurred on Thursday night in the amusement park in Hershey, Pennsylvania, when a 9 -year -old boy “was tragically lost in the Paseo Marítimo de HersheyPark,” said John Lawn, CEO of HersheyPark.

“From the moment our lifeguard team acknowledged that a child was distressed, he made an immediate rescue, followed by continuous and coordinated efforts that save lives by our lifeguards, the lifeguards on the site and medical staff,” Lawn said.

The child was immediately taken to the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where, despite the efforts that save life, the child was declared dead.

“Our hearts break for this child and the child’s family,” Lawn said in a statement on social networks. “We extend our deepest condolences for their loss. For respect for their privacy, we will not disseminate any personal detail at this time.”

Lawn did not reveal specific details about the incident or the circumstances that led to it, but, according to the company’s website, the Boardwalk presents 16 different water attractions, including the longest carpet rack slides in the world, “WhiteCap Racer”, and is home to a 378,000 gallon wave pool called “La Costa”, which goes to a depth of six feet.

“The security of our guests has always been our top priority,” said Lawn. “In the next few days, we will carry out an exhaustive internal review and cooperate completely with the authorities.”

“As we cry along with our community, we request privacy for the family and for the members of our team that are deeply affected by this loss. We will provide updates as appropriate, and we will continue working to support all those involved,” Lawn continued.

Research on the child’s death is currently open and continuous.

“For every family that visit HersheyPark, please know this: their safety and well -being promotes every decision we make,” Lawn said. “We will thoroughly investigate this tragedy and honor the memory of this young guest continuing our approach in guaranteeing the safety of our guests in HersheyPark.”
