Two B-2 bombers were transferred to the joint base of Alaska Elmendorf-Richardson before Friday’s summit between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to two officials.
Stealth bombers are the same type used by the United States to attack Iran’s nuclear sites in the June Midnight Hammer operation.
The B-2 is considered a symbol of American power, since bombers can fly around the world without stopping and can transport conventional and nuclear ammunition.
The Pentagon did not respond to a request for comments.

When Trump and Putin gathered in the asphalt, a B-2 bomber and four F-35 combat aircraft flew over, defense officials confirmed on Friday.
In the asphalt, a red carpet was placed with F-22 combat planes on both sides. The Raptors F-22, known for their ability to fly unteo-detected fighting, operate outside the air base, the authorities said.
It was not clear immediately if Trump personally ordered the bombers and at the end of the base of the Air Force as a kind of sample of force before his discussions with Russia, which is also a nuclear energy. B-2 spiritual bombers have operated outside the base before.
In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly praised the power of the plane and the ability of its pilots, noting that the seven B-2 used in the Midnight Hammer operation flew 36 hours directly from the base of the Whiteman Air Force in Missouri to Iran, where more than a dozen bunker-bunker-buuster bombs fell.
Trump has insisted that the sites were “erased.” American military officers say that an evaluation of damage is still underway. On August 6, he announced that his administration ordered a “new and improved” aircraft.
“It’s an incredible machine,” he told reporters, holding a small bomber model.
