Powerball jackpot rises to $1 billion ahead of Saturday drawing

The Powerball jackpot has grown to $1 billion, a cash value of $457.7 million, for Saturday night’s drawing.

This is the seventh largest prize in the history of the game, according to Powerball. The largest prize in history was $2.04 billion won on November 7, 2022.

The Powerball jackpot was last won on September 6 with two tickets in Missouri and Texas splitting a $1.787 million prize. There have been 41 consecutive draws without victories.

The Powerball jackpot was last held on Wednesday night, when no tickets matched the five white balls (10, 16, 29, 33, 69) and the red 22 Powerball.

If a player wins on Saturday night, he will have the option between annual payments worth an estimated $1 billion or an immediate lump sum payment of $457.7 million.

According to Powerball, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.

The drawing will take place shortly before 11 pm ET at the Florida Lottery drawing studio in Tallahassee.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play.
