Police in Concord, North Carolina, say four people were injured when gunfire erupted among a crowd during an annual tree lighting ceremony Friday night.
Concord Police Maj. Patrick Tierney, speaking during a news conference, said the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Union Street near Corbin Avenue, just steps from the center of the event.
Police said the shooting was between two suspects who knew each other and identified Nasir Ahmad Bostic, 18, as one of the shooters.
Bostic, who was shot during the incident, was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. Authorities said he faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, and will be served with a warrant for his arrest when he leaves the hospital.
The second alleged shooter, whom police only identified as a juvenile, was also shot and is currently recovering in the hospital and is in critical condition. Police said the suspect will also face multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon.
A 17-year-old boy was identified as a third suspect and faces criminal charges, including accessory after the fact and inciting a riot. They were not injured in the shooting, police said.
Emergency personnel from Concord Police, Concord Fire and Cabarrus County EMS were already on site for the ceremony and responded immediately.

In total, four people with gunshot wounds were taken to the hospital, three of them in critical condition and the other in stable condition.
Authorities said officers are reviewing video of the event and interviewing witnesses.
The department said more details will be released as the investigation develops.
Concord, a city of approximately 105,000 people, is located approximately 25 miles northeast of downtown Charlotte.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
